Seaweek Snorkel Clean Up & Nature Clean-up

  • 1 Hakirau Street eastern end side of Ngamotu Beach (map)

Calling experienced snorkelers/freedivers!

Come join us for a clean up along the Lee Breakwater this Seaweek, focusing on removing discarded fishing gear.

Join the Experiencing Marine Reserves and Nga Motu Marine Reserve Society team down at the Lee Breakwater for a snorkel (water based) clean up.

You'll need to be a confident snorkeler, be capable of swimming at least 100m non-stop, and have your own snorkel gear, gloves and a knife. This snorkel clean up is free but registration is mandatory.

Location: For the Snorkel clean-up we will be located by the gate to the breakwater, eastern end of Ngāmotu Beach. Start time is 5.45pm.

There is also a land-based Nature Clean-up happening at the same time. Meeting point is at the main Lee Breakwater carpark, near the big sign for a kōrero - briefing. Look for the Sustainable Taranaki flag! - Here on GoogleMaps.
BYO gloves and buckets if possible, but we'll provide some if needed!

Big thanks to our supporters, sponsors and volunteers who make this day possible including: Toi Foundation, NPDC, Taranaki Foundation, Port Taranaki, Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust/Experiencing Marine Reserves and the Ngā Motu Marine Reserve Society.

In case of bad weather or poor water visibility, keep an eye on the facebook event for cancellation.
